The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, met yesterday by videoconference with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, who thanked Spain for its contribution to global security and to the Alliance.
During the meeting, which took place in the framework of the preparations for the next NATO Summit -to be held on June 14 in Brussels-, Sánchez and Stoltenberg discussed the future of the organization through the NATO 2030 initiative, which “aims at a more political and more global Alliance, capable of addressing aspects such as resilience or climate change”, as reported by Moncloa in a press release.
Likewise, the Secretary General was interested in Spain’s position with respect to the emerging challenges and new actors on the international scene and Sánchez highlighted “Spain’s commitment to allied values and principles, and the active contribution of our country to the operations and missions carried out by NATO”. For his part, Jens Stoltenberg thanked “Spain’s contribution to global security and to the Atlantic Alliance in particular”, added Moncloa.
