The Working Group “Urban and Territorial Development and Sustainability” of Cátedra China organises two conferences this afternoon at 4pm on Architectural heritage in Shanghai, from the past to the present through two approaches.

The two sessions will deal with The work of the Spanish architect Abelardo Lafuente in the cosmopolitan Shanghai from 1913 to 1931, by Álvaro Leonardo, architect and director of the ‘Abelardo Lafuente Research Project’, and Authenticity and recreation of heritage in the contemporary urban development of Shanghai, by Plácido González Martínez, architect, professor at Tongji University and editor of the magazine Built Heritage. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the work of Spanish architects in China, from the largely unknown work of the generation that left a great heritage legacy in the first decades of the last century to that of the young graduates who were forced to emigrate by the 2008 crisis. The event, which is remote, is free to attend after registering for the event on the Cátedra China website.
