The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced yesterday that Spain will participate from June 7 in the general European test to activate the Green Digital Certificate before the summer.
This is “great news for our tourism industry”, declared the head of the Executive during the inauguration of Soria Presura20, the most important national fair for the recovery of Rural Spain. The certificate, he added, will also benefit “those destinations in inland Spain whose offer grows in number and attractiveness year after year”.
The European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU reached an agreement on May 20 for the creation of the EU Digital COVID Certificate that will facilitate free movement during the pandemic. The certificate will be available in digital and paper format and will serve to prove whether a person has been vaccinated against the coronavirus, has a negative test or has overcome the disease. The passport is expected to come into effect on July 1, will be valid for 12 months and should not be considered a travel document or a requirement for freedom of movement.
