On 3 June at 19.30, the presentation of the book Memorias de un periodista: Tres Décadas en ABC (Memoirs of a Journalist: Three Decades at ABC), by Ramón Pérez-Maura, will take place in the garden of the Fundación Ortega Marañón (calle Fortuny, 53).
The event will be attended by Andrés Pastrana, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo and the author of the book. More than a century ago, the Luca de Tena family gave birth to a new medium that would soon prove to be a determining factor in the Spanish news scene: ABC. Through the pages of this flagship have passed the best writers, the most experienced journalists, the most outstanding figures of the last century (and the dawn of the current one) in all areas of social and cultural life. Ramón Pérez-Maura has had first-hand knowledge of the last three decades of this long and fruitful trajectory. A privileged witness, therefore, in these memoirs he makes a heartfelt plea in favour of free and independent journalism, whose contribution to the consolidation of Spanish democracy is in every way unquestionable. The author, in the light of his own memories, traces the different stages of the newspaper and draws a formidable canvas that allows us to clearly discern the changes that have taken place and the current panorama, not only of our media, under attack from so many fronts, but also of the convulsive reality that this country is going through. It is essential to register to attend the event by emailing aranchasanz@eurocofin.com.
