The year 2021 marks 140 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Kingdom of Spain, and as part of the events organised to mark this anniversary by the Instituto Cultural Rumano of Madrid, the Instituto de Estudios Europeos de la Universidad de Valladolid and the Romanian Embassy, the documentary exhibition Romania-Spain. 140 years of diplomatic relations, from 20 to 27 May, at the headquarters of the Institute of European Studies (IEE) of the University of Valladolid.
The exhibition focuses on the presentation of the main historical moments and the personalities who left their mark on Romanian-Spanish relations over time, presenting various photo-documentary testimonies from the Diplomatic Archives of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from the diplomatic, economic and cultural fields. On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, a session of scientific talks will be organised, coordinated by professors Guillermo Á. Pérez Sánchez and Ricardo Martín de la Guardia, which will include the following presentations: 140 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Spain: historical milestones, D. Doru Liciu, Director of the Diplomatic Archives of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Relations between the Romanian and Spanish royal families, 19th-20th centuries, Amadeo Rey, academician and lecturer at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid; Romania and Spain: parallel paths during the Cold War until convergence in the European Union, Dr. Guillermo Á. Pérez Sánchez, professor and director of the IEE, and Romania in the Institute of European Studies of the University of Valladolid, Dr. Ricardo Martín de la Guardia, professor and head of the Jean Monnet Chair of the IEE.
