The exhibition Polish Biographies: “Echoes”: images of tradition and the present with the series of works presented by the Polish painter Agata Stępień can be seen at the Fundación Antonio Pérez in Cuenca until 4 July.
In the exhibition, Agata Stępień refers to her private life and demonstrates that no one is free of imperfections and uncertainties. The artist uses art as a way of emphasising her fear and defines the process of creation as an act of absorption of emotions. In this way, her work becomes very intimate and constitutes an attractive motivation for the viewer. The reflections in his work focus on the body as an object of artistic activity, at the level of creative physical transgression, circulating in search of answers to questions about the limits of body image and artistic freedom in the context of contemporary culture. In the series of paintings she presents, she uses legends and family stories to emphasise the harsh fate of the women in her family during the war. More information on the Foundation’s website.
