This afternoon at 6 p.m., Casa Árabe in Madrid is offering on its YouTube channel the interview it conducted with the Moroccan writer Leila Slimani on the occasion of the publication of her latest book, El país de los otros (The Country of Others). In French, with Spanish subtitles.

Leila Slimani was born in Rabat in 1981, to a Moroccan father and a French-Algerian mother. With her first novel, In the Ogre’s Garden (2014), in which she tackles female sexual addiction, she received unanimous critical acclaim. Sweet Song, her second novel, consolidated Slimani’s literary career by winning the 2016 Goncourt Prize. In 2017, her committed essay Sex and Lies was published in France. She is currently the French representative on the Conseil de la Francophonie, a regular contributor to the daily Le Monde and a committed activist on human rights and sexual freedom issues.
