Once again this year and commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Centro Cultural Coreano of Madrid, the 9th edition of the K-POP Contest will be held on Saturday 24 July, within the framework of the Festival Veranos de la Villa, organised by the Madrid City Council.
The event will take place in the Central Patio of the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque in Madrid. The deadline for applications is 13 June and the selected singing and dancing groups will be announced on 2 July in the news section of the Centro Cultural Coreano’s website. Ten participating groups from Spain will showcase their talent in the singing and dancing categories. The participants in both categories will compete with K-POP songs in the Korean language and will be evaluated not only on their talent, but also on the degree of difficulty of the piece performed, as well as the staging of songs from the current K-POP scene. In addition, in the singing category, soloists may be accompanied by a maximum of two backup dancers. The singing group will be limited to a maximum of 4 participants. As for the dancing, they will be limited to the same number of members as the original group. Those selected for the final will compete once again this year for the prizes, with the top prize of 1,000 euros for each category. The grand final will be held in Changwon, South Korea, with all expenses paid. In the case of the runners-up, the prize will be 500 euros for both categories.
