Diplomat Ignacio García Lumbreras has taken up the post of deputy director general for European Union countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, filling the vacancy left by Raquel Gómez-Cambronero, appointed director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Science and Innovation, Pedro Duque.
García Lumbreras had already been working, since August 2019, in Raquel Gómez-Cambronero’s team, which deals with relations with EU countries.
He joined the Diplomatic Career in 2004 and since then has held, among other positions, those of Deputy Consul of Spain in Sao Paulo, Counsellor at the Embassy in Dublin, Technical Counsellor at the Sub-Directorate General for Andean Countries, and Deputy Consul in Quito.
