Tomorrow and the day after, Casa Mediterráneo is commemorating Europe Day with a concert based on a selection from La Europa Galante, considered the first opera-ballet in history.
Tomorrow’s date is at 12 noon at the headquarters of the diplomatic cultural centre (Plaza Del Arquitecto Miguel López, S/N, Alicante), while on Sunday the 9th it will take place at the same time at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (C/ Museo, nº 2, Valencia). Composed by André Campra in Paris in 1697, the plot of La Europa Galante is a journey to the amorous nations of Europe. It is a spicy musical joke created during the reign of Louis XIV, which makes one smile when listening to it as one perceives how the uses of amorous gallantry were understood in four countries that in the 17th and 18th centuries were united by the Mediterranean Sea, by a multicultural and diverse sense of Europe and by the most natural of human feelings: love. The Ensemble Casa Mediterráneo, a musical group made up of musicians with a long career under the direction of the maestro Ignacio García-Vidal from Alicante, will perform the musical piece. Registration is compulsory by e-mail to comunicacion@casa-mediterraneo.es, providing name and surname, ID card number and telephone number. You can download the programme here.
