The president of Navantia, Ricardo Domínguez, and the mayoress of San Fernando, Patricia Cavada, yesterday presided over the inauguration of the Navantia Training Centre (NTC), the company’s training centre, located in the ‘El Barco’ building in San Fernando.
The NTC is a strategic commitment of Navantia to have a reference centre in the naval training field. It will project the company’s image inside and outside Spain, as it will allow the development of training programmes and other training and dissemination activities for the naval and defence industry.
The centre will be inaugurated with the largest training programme in the history of Navantia, the one destined to equip the corvettes for the Royal Saudi Navy, currently under construction at the Bahía de Cádiz shipyard. For more than two years, a total of 670 people will be trained in this centre.
The NTC is located in the ‘El Barco’ building, ceded by the San Fernando City Council to Navantia, which has refurbished it to convert it into a training centre equipped with advanced equipment. Its 4,000 square metres house 17 classrooms, four Navantis simulator classrooms, a welding simulator classroom, five classrooms with avatar systems, a VR/RA room, a conference room, a multi-purpose room, several meeting rooms, a cafeteria and multiple agile points.
