The Vicente Ferrer Foundation (FVF) has launched a campaign to obtain an oxygen generator at the hospital it manages in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the face of the uncontrolled increase in cases of COVID-19 in India.

The aim of the Oxygen for India campaign is to provide its hospital in Bathalapalli with an oxygen generator to cover the needs, which will increase in the coming days, according to the Spain-India Council Foundation.

According to the Indian Ministry of Health, the country recorded around 353,000 cases in a single day this week. Dr. Praveen, director of the FVF Bathalapalli Hospital, has described the situation as extremely urgent. “This time the virus is spreading faster and in more severe cases, especially among younger people in their 30s and 50s”, he warned.

Bathalapalli Hospital has been designated, as in the first wave, a COVID-19 referral hospital by the Andhra Pradesh State Government (southeast India). According to Asensio Rodríguez, director of the FVF in Spain, “the Oxygen for India campaign is focused on obtaining an oxygen generator to guarantee reserves for the most serious cases”. “The Foundation is concentrating its efforts on caring for patients with more severe symptoms and raising awareness in the villages about prevention measures and the importance of vaccination to deal with this new wave”, he added.

You can collaborate with the Oxygen for India campaign through the Vicente Ferrer Foundation website or by calling 900 111 300. “Your support is essential to guarantee the oxygen levels in the blood of our patients without depending on anyone and to face this new wave of contagion in India”, the Foundation warned.
