The Spanish government yesterday condemned “in the strongest terms” the car bomb attack perpetrated on 1 May in Logar province (Afghanistan). The attack killed 24 people and injured more than a hundred others, including 16 minors and 12 women, who had gathered to break the fast in Ramadan.
“Attacks against minors, women and other vulnerable groups are particularly reprehensible, threaten the peace process, and undermine the prospect of reconciliation,” said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement adds that “Spain calls for an immediate cessation of violence and, at this time of mourning, reaffirms its solidarity with the Afghan government and people, and especially with the families and friends of the victims”.
