The Secretary of State for Global Spain, Manuel Muñiz, yesterday held a meeting with Cristina Aranda, co-founder of ‘Mujeres Tech’, in the framework of the preparatory work for the National Strategy for Technology and Global Order whose drafting process is led and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.

‘Mujeres Tech’ is a non-profit association created in 2015 with the aim of giving visibility to women in the digital sector, promoting scientific-technological vocations among young women and serving as a platform to establish a network among professionals in this field.

The aim of this meeting, according to a note distributed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was to give a voice to women in the sector in the drafting of the aforementioned National Strategy and, in this regard, Manuel Muñiz said: “In the digital transition, so necessary for economic recovery, women in the digital field, technology, innovation and science are key, and we want this to be reflected in our future Strategy”.

This is precisely the mission of ‘Mujeres Tech’ through projects such as ‘GirlsInTech’ or ‘Agile Girls’, with which it seeks to give voice and power to women in the digital world from the time they are girls, to normalise their path towards leadership in a sector in which their presence is still scarce and to contribute to building a more diverse, inclusive and competitive society.

The National Strategy for Technology and Global Order is one of the initiatives introduced in the Foreign Action Strategy 2021-2024 recently approved by the Council of Ministers, and aims to carry out a diagnosis of the role of technology in power relations between States with an impact on the conditions for progress and society as a whole.

In recent months, España Global has also met with other organisations such as Barcelona Tech City, a project promoted by more than 1,000 companies in the sector in the city that is working to position Barcelona among the main technology hubs in the world.
