The Council of Ministers appointed, on Tuesday, Javier Salido Ortiz as the new Director General for Sustainable Development Policies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Gabriel Ferrero y de Loma-Osorio, who has become Ambassador-at-Large for Food Security.
Javier Salido has been a career diplomat since 2004 and held the post of Deputy Director General for Multilateral and European Development Policies. Previously, he was Spain’s representative on the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD and a member of the Steering Committee of the OECD Development Centre. He has also been posted to the Spanish Embassies in Brazil, India and Trinidad and Tobago, where he served as second in command, and has been head of the Latin America and Debt area in the Directorate General for International Economic Relations.
Gabriel Ferrero, who has been in charge of the Directorate General for Sustainable Development Policies since July 2018, and now becomes Ambassador-at-Large for Food Security, was a member of the Advisory Committee for the 2030 Agenda and Deputy Director General for Planning and Development Policies in the Secretariat of State for International Cooperation and Coordinator of the United Nations High-Level Task Force on Food Security and Nutrition (HLTF). He was also part of the Team for the 2030 Agenda and Climate Change of the Executive Office of the Secretary General of the United Nations.
