As part of the series Latin America after Covid19: The challenge of sustainable reconstruction, Casa America presents next Thursday 29th April at 6pm the conference Economic Recovery in Colombia based on digital productivity, without an audience in person, only on our YouTube channel.
In the fourth and last session of this cycle, the situation of Colombia in the region will be addressed. Based on an OECD report that identified productivity as one of the four development traps in Latin America, it will be shown that Colombia has been no stranger to this dynamic and between 2000 and 2018 its low productivity growth subtracted one percentage point from annual growth. Moreover, after the adverse effects of the pandemic, IMF projections predict growth of -8.8 by 2020 in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and -8.2 for Colombia. Participants: Walid David, Vice-Minister of Connectivity of the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies; Sebastián Nieto Parra, Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Unit at the OECD Development Centre; Paola Bonilla Castaño, Commissioner of Communications of the CRC; Daniel Gómez Gaviria, Sectoral Deputy Director (DNP); Elena Delgado Rojas, Director of Macroeconomic and Sectoral Analysis, Fedesarrollo; and Olga Lucía Acosta, Officer in Charge of the ECLAC Office in Bogotá. Moderator: Santiago Pinzón, Director of the Digital Industry and Services Chamber (ANDI). Luis Guillermo Plata, Ambassador of Colombia, will close the event.
