Until Sunday the 2nd of May Casa Mediterráneo presents a variety of cultural events. All events are online. Today Monday at 7pm, as part of the Women and the Mediterranean series, there will be a meeting with Blanca Moreno-Dodson, senior economist at the World Bank and director of the Centre for Mediterranean Integration. The meeting will analyse the necessary connection between the northern and southern Mediterranean through specific programmes and common policies that help to promote understanding between the two shores in order to face the challenges of the 21st century, such as climate change, and the effects of the pandemic on the economy of the area.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8.50 a.m., the Myths of the Mediterranean series will feature the narration of the writer and storyteller Raquel López from the Alonai school in Santa Pola (Alicante). Greek myths are the origin of many modern tales. They are still alive and interesting for us. Loves, betrayals, revenge and hatred; heroes, gods and mortals. The story of Ariadne, Theseus and the Minotaur contains all these ingredients. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., the theme Turkey, beyond the Mediterranean will be discussed, with the participation of Francisco Veiga, Professor of Contemporary History at the Autonomous University of Madrid; Andrés Mourenza, the correspondent of El País in Istanbul, and Ilke Toygür (in the photo), an analyst at the Elcano Royal Institute.
On Thursday 29th at 19:00, the Mediterranean Psychology series will host television presenter Pedro García Aguado, who will talk about the psychological consequences of the pandemic and try to propose strategies for overcoming them. Finally, on Friday 30 at the same time, there will be a concert by the Gani Mirzo Band, a group of music and melodies with Middle Eastern roots, especially Kurdish, mixed with flamenco airs and touches using instruments such as the lute, buzuk and Spanish guitar. Registration is required at comunicacion@casa-mediterraneo.es.
