The new ambassador of Bangladesh to Spain, Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood, handed over on Thursday his Copies of Letters of Credence to the Introducer of Ambassadors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Caridad Batalla.
Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood, who until his appointment held the post of director general of South Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will replace Hassan Mahmud Khandaker, who has been in Spain since December 2015.
The new ambassador is a member of the Diplomatic Career and was previously posted at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN in New York, as counselor (2010-2013), and at his country’s Embassies in Brussels, Singapore and Hong Kong, where he was consul general. In addition, he worked in different areas at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sarwar earned an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka and a BA with honors and an MA in Economics from the same university. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii, USA. He also completed the National Defense Course at the Bangladesh National Defense College.
