Korean director Yeon Sang-ho returns to his zombie universe after the success of Train to Busan with the release of its sequel, Península.
This film achieved great results in its Asian theatrical release. Despite capacity restrictions and limited theatre seating, the film exceeded $13 million (1.8 million admissions) at the South Korean box office in its first five days, which was equivalent to 93% of the country’s Box Office total. A zombie contagion spreads across the Korean peninsula, turning it into post-apocalyptic territory. Four years later, a group of mercenaries enter ground zero on a dangerous mission to recover a lost truck with a million-dollar haul.
