Filarmonía de Madrid presents a groundbreaking version of Karl Off’s Carmina Burana on 30 April at 19.30 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, with two pianos, percussion and choir, conducted by maestro Pascual Osa.
The soloists in the concert will be Rebeca Cardiel (soprano), Nacho Castellanos (countertenor) and Enrique Sánchez-Ramos (baritone). The cantata profana is a collection of songs from the 12th and 13th centuries. Carl Orff uses only some of these medieval poems for the composition of his Carmina Burana. The original texts satirize and criticise all social classes in general, especially those in power in the crown and above all in the clergy. Earthly pleasures, carnal love and the enjoyment of nature are extolled. Tickets on sale at this link.
