The 3rd Saliou Traoré Prize for Journalism in Spanish on Africa, established by Efe and Casa África in 2019, was announced on 15 February, and candidates may now submit their work for this award, which aims to bring the reality of the African continent to the public in Spanish. Efe and Casa África’s informative commitment, in a posthumous tribute to the veteran correspondent of the Efe Agency who died on 13 October 2018, rewards those who focus their attention on “inclusive, sustainable and egalitarian development, in addition to the social and solidarity component”.
The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros and a commemorative statuette, the work of María de Frutos, winner of the National Plastic Arts Award in 2015. The competition is open to journalists -natural and legal persons- Spanish, African or of any nationality who have published work on the African continent or African themes in Spanish. In their presentation, for series of reports or investigative works written and published in print or digital media, a single chapter must be submitted, accompanied by a synopsis of the complete work (within the form that can be found at the end of the rules). The rules can be consulted on the EFE and Casa África websites.
