This evening at 7.30 p.m., Casa Árabe in Madrid is kicking off a new film series dedicated to Great Names for New Times. The first screening is the Qatari documentary It’s Time to Finish the Building, by Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, dedicated to the architect Hassan Fathy. Screenings in the original version with Spanish subtitles. Tickets are numbered.

Hassan Fathy’s name is indispensable in the history of Egypt’s cultural history and in the history of universal architecture. His work is characterised by sustainable architecture created in accordance with the environment, using local resources and attending to the needs of its inhabitants. This documentary, the only biographical film that exists about the author, presents the character in his time, with unique images of Fathy in his environment and with multiple testimonies from disciples and friends who shared his work and his intellectual concerns.
