To commemorate 140 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Spain, the Instituto Cultural Rumano (ICR), in collaboration with the Romanian Embassy in Spain and the Academia de Bellas Artes San Fernando, is programming a concert performed by the Romanian Chamber Orchestra Quartet for next Friday at 12 noon.
In the vision of the renowned violinist Alexandru Tomescu and the violist Cristian Andriș, artistic directors of the Romanian Chamber Orchestra, twenty-two musicians make up this group of stringed instruments. One of the aims of the RCO is the promotion of classical music composed for this orchestral formula and performed at an excellent level, comparable to the best chamber orchestras in the world. The programme will be composed of Romanian Suites, Musical Arrangements by Nicușor Silaghi / Transylvanian Quartet; Quartet No. 1 in D minor by Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, and La oración del torero, op. 34, by Joaquín Turina. This programme is an exciting journey through the intimate ties that both Romania and Spain have with their respective musical cultures, vernacular and ancestral. But it is also a musical exploration of how many unsuspected relationships and enigmatic links the artistic cultures of both countries have with each other, with parallels that are a real joy to discover through careful listening. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
