Iberdrola has awarded the Danish company Vestas the supply of 23 turbines for its Askio II, Askio III and Rokani wind farms in Greece, with a total capacity of 102 megawatts (MW), according to the Spanish company.

Specifically, the Rokani project, located in the region of Viotia, will consist of three wind turbines with a unit capacity of six MW – EnVentus model – the most powerful in the onshore wind market and used for the first time in this country.

The contract also includes the supply of 20 4.2 MW turbines for the Askio II (33.6 MW) and Askio III (50 MW) wind farms in Kozani prefecture in the north of the country, as well as two Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contracts for five and 10 years.

Delivery of the turbines will take place in the first half of next year and commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2022. Once operational, Iberdrola’s renewable capacity in Greece and Cyprus will amount to 437 MW.

The group chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán was awarded these three projects in the renewables auction organised by the Greek government in July last year.
