This afternoon at 4 p.m., the Fundación Japón presents the lecture The Japanese garden: its styles and conformation, which will be given by Professor Masao Fukuhara, from the Osaka University of Art, who will be connected live from Japan to answer questions and resolve curiosities.

There are three styles of Japanese garden: the pond garden (ikeizumi), the dry landscape (karesansui) and the tea garden. Each of them became famous from a different historical period. Pond gardens gained popularity from the Asuka Period, dry landscape gardens from the Kamakura-Muromachi Period, and tea gardens from the Azuch-Momoyama Period. Each of these styles expresses through the garden hospitality, paradise (or ideal world), the principles of Zen ideal for meditation and the tea ceremony as a way of life. The event will be in Japanese with consecutive interpretation into English.  Free participation until full capacity is reached. Prior registration is required to attend through this link.
