ICEX Spain Export and Investment has opened a Brexit Window to help Spanish companies access the British market following the UK’s exit from the EU.
As ICEX reported this past Thursday, the fact that the UK will no longer benefit from seamless access to the single market, the EU customs union or its policies and international agreements “inevitably creates barriers that did not exist in the trade of goods, as well as mobility and cross-border exchanges in both directions”. In addition, British service providers “have lost their automatic right to offer services throughout the EU”.
For this reason, the public entity in charge of promoting the internationalization of Spanish companies has opened a Brexit Window that will allow concentrating in a single point access to all the information and services offered by ICEX, the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in London and the Secretary of State for Trade to address the British market: documentation of interest, specific workshops on adaptation to the new regulations, courses, advisory services and Brexit check, among others.
“It should not be forgotten that the United Kingdom is a preferential trading partner with which Spain maintains a great economic interdependence and a high productive connection after more than 40 years of common membership in the EU, and the current situation is unprecedented”, recalled ICEX in a press release.
In addition, to help alleviate the adaptation and the effects derived from the exit of the United Kingdom, ICEX offers companies the Brexit check, a discount on the hiring of Personalized Services of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in London that ranges between 80% for SMEs and 60% for larger companies. It applies to a maximum of three discounts per company and is valid for services contracted until June 30, 2021.
