The Diplomat
The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Anar Abel Maharramov, was decorated last Tuesday with the Commemorative Medal of the 1,300th Anniversary of the Proclamation of D. Pelayo, awarded by the Corps of the Nobility of the Principality of Asturias on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of diplomatic contacts between his nation and Spain.
The ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Madrid, where the Magistral Councillor of the Corporation, Francisco de Borbón, Duke of Seville and Grandee of Spain, presented the medal to Ambassador Maharramov. At the ceremony, Alfredo Leonard, Councillor for Institutional Relations of the Corps, addressed a few words to the attendees in which he stressed that “the Nobility of Asturias wanted to commemorate with this medal the excellent relations that, over the years, the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Azerbaijan have maintained”.
For his part, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan thanked the representatives of the Corps of the Nobility of Asturias for this gesture, because “it symbolises, remembers, and does not leave in oblivion the strong ties of friendship that unite Spain and Azerbaijan”, highlighting the commercial and economic relations that unite his country and the Kingdom of Spain.
Apart from the Asturian delegation, the ambassadors of the Czech Republic and Turkey, together with the First Secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Russia, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation, Zurab Pololikashviliy, also attended.
