Until the 21st of April Casa de México presents the installation La mesa novohispana, an immersive experience in which a viceregal kitchen is recreated with an enormous diversity of utensils, dishes and ingredients.
The installation, part of the México novohispano programme organised by the Institution, aims to reveal, from an artistic and culinary perspective, the result of the mixture of two worlds. La mesa novohispana derives from La mesa de Moctezuma, an exhibition that in 2019 aimed to show the ingredients that Mesoamerica gave to the world. On this occasion, Casa de México continues to explore the origin of Mexico’s culinary greatness and does so through this installation, which recreates a kitchen that could be found inside haciendas and convents in viceregal Mexico.
