The Ibero-American Secretary General, Rebeca Grynspan, yesterday began an official visit to Peru in virtual format, during which she met with the President of the Republic, Francisco Sagasti, and senior Peruvian authorities to discuss the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis and preparations for the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Andorra on 21 April.
In addition to meeting with the Peruvian leader, Grynspan held talks with the President of the Council of Ministers, Violeta Bermúdez Valdivia, and had planned meetings with the Minister of Education, Ricardo David Cuenca Pareja, and the President of the Peruvian National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (Concytec), Benjamín Marticorena Castillo.
In the coming days and until Thursday, he will hold talks with the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Allan Wagner Tizón; Culture, Alejandro Arturo Neyra Sánchez; Women and Vulnerable Populations, Silvia Rosario Loli Espinoza, and Environment, Gabriel Quijandría Acosta, as well as with representatives of international organisations.
Grynspan will also participate in a virtual dialogue with the Mesa de Concertación para la Lucha Contra la Pobreza, the central theme of which will be “The role of international cooperation in the economic recovery/reactivation of middle-income countries to mitigate the effects of COVID-19”.
The 27th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in Andorra will focus on innovation for sustainable development and the way out of the COVID-19 crisis, with special emphasis on the health, social, economic and environmental aspects of recovery.
