The Spanish government, through the National Intelligence Centre (CNI), is holding a conference on cybersecurity and cryptology in Colombia this week, with the collaboration of the authorities of the ibero-American country. This is the first time that these conferences, which have been held in Spain for 14 years, will take place outside Madrid.

On the 16th and 17th of this month, Bogotá will host the I Jornada STIC-Colombia Chapter, an event on cybersecurity in information and communications technologies organised by the National Cryptologic Centre (CCN), attached to the National Intelligence Centre (CNI), and the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE), which depends on the State Secretary for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence.

The meetings, under the slogan “Cybersecurity, the commitment that unites us”, seek to promote cooperation between international organisations and companies and are supported by the Colombian Ministry of Defence, the EAN University of Bogota and the IN-Nova Foundation.

The two-day event will highlight the importance and need to collaborate and exchange knowledge and experiences in order to make cyberspace a safer and more reliable place.

Leading specialists in the field of cyberspace will participate to analyse and share new trends in cybersecurity, threats, attacks and technological challenges, as well as cybersecurity prevention, technological solutions and industrial control systems.

The event will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, with a ceremony chaired by the State Secretary and Director of the CNI, Paz Esteban, and the Spanish Ambassador to Colombia, Marcos Gómez.

After the inauguration, the head of the Cybersecurity Department of the CCN, Javier Candau, and the Director General of INCIBE, Rosa Díaz Moles, will give a presentation in which they will show the collaboration and synergies between the two organisations.

On Wednesday, two round tables will be held with international participation and the support of the Organisation of American States (OAS), where the challenges and opportunities that organisations face today in terms of cybersecurity will be presented.

The event will be closed by the State Secretary for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas.
