ICEX Spain Export and Investment and Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group have launched Alibaba Netpreneur Masterclass Spain, a training program to boost the digital transformation of Spanish companies that will kick off on May 6.

The first edition of Alibaba Netpreneur Masterclass Spain, launched by ICEX and Alibaba Business School (ABS, the Alibaba Group’s training and education area), will cover “a varied program of six-week online courses and workshops aimed at founders and owners of Spanish companies and startups in all sectors, regions and age groups”, according to the public business entity in charge of promoting the internationalization of Spanish companies.

Spain and Italy are the countries chosen by ABS for the European debut of Alibaba Netpreneur Masterclass, an initiative whose purpose is to support and provide companies and entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and knowledge to “navigate” the new scenarios of the digital and global economy and cope with the transformations that, “in an unprecedented year like 2020, have accelerated”, ICEX continued.

“The Alibaba Business School Netpreneur Masterclass Spain project deliberately comes at a delicate time for Spanish companies and aims to provide a new impetus for them to consider the digital path as the engine of business strategies and the catalyst for recovery”, said Alibaba Group’s managing director for Southern Europe, Rodrigo Cipriani Foresio.

“Alibaba has played a key role in building China’s digital economy over the past 20 years, which has helped us achieve great learning and create best practices”, said Zhang Yu, partner and vice president of Alibaba Group. “The global pandemic has further highlighted the need for digital transformation,” and so “with this program we hope to share our experience with participants from all markets and enable them to transform their businesses”, he added.

“Digitalization, entrepreneurship and sustainability are three levers that will mark the future development of Spanish SMEs, making them more competitive and strengthening their internationalization strategies”, said ICEX CEO María Peña. “ICEX promotes the development of these three levers through various programs, actions and activities in which the Alibaba Netpreneur Masterclass initiative fits perfectly, which will allow participating companies to learn first-hand the keys that have allowed Chinese companies to position themselves at the forefront of international online markets thanks to digitalization and the use of new commercial channels”, she concluded.
