The Government of Bangladesh has appointed Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood, currently director general for South Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the country’s new ambassador to Spain.
Sarwar will replace Hassan Mahmud Khandaker, who has been in Spain since December 2015.
The new ambassador is a member of the Diplomatic Career and has previously been posted to Bangladesh’s missions in Brussels, Singapore, New York and Hong Kong. In addition, he worked in different areas at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sarwar holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka and a BA with honors and an MA in Economics from the same university. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii, USA. He also completed the National Defense Course at the Bangladesh National Defense College.
