This evening at 7:30 p.m., Casa Árabe continues its series dedicated to the Arab Spring with a screening of the 2014 documentary El sueño de Sherezade (Scheherazade’s Dream), a co-production directed by François Verster. Tickets are numbered and the screening is in the original version with Spanish subtitles.
Before, during and after the so-called ‘Arab Spring’, the documentary weaves together music, politics and storytelling to explore the ways in which creativity and political articulation respond to oppression. From Cairo to Istanbul to Beirut, this narrative kaleidoscope serves as a rethinking of the ways in which powerful historical and cultural archetypes interact with political change.
