The new film by director and screenwriter Michel Franco, Nuevo orden, opens today. The film was one of the big winners at the last Venice Film Festival, where it won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize and the Leoncino d’Oro Award (Young Jury) and recently won the Forqué Award for Best Latin American Film of the year.
A lavish high society wedding goes awry when an unexpected social upheaval gives way to a violent coup d’état, as seen through the eyes of the young bride and the servants who work for her wealthy family. A film set in Mexico City that deals with violence and social inequality very well described. Nuevo orden stars some of Mexico’s hottest young actors Diego Boneta, Dario Yazbek Bernal and Naian González Norvind.
