Casa África starts a series of webinars on current economic issues on Africa to explain specific realities of the current situation. This initiative is motivated by the fact that the continent’s economic potential is as attractive as it is unknown and this informative work can promote the internationalisation of Spanish companies.
The first meeting will be broadcast on 18 February and will discuss the recent launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area, which has become the largest in the world in terms of potential consumers, even ahead of the World Trade Organisation, as it currently encompasses a market of more than 1.2 billion people. The African Free Trade Agreement is an agreement already signed by 53 African Union countries with the main objective of creating a single market, as well as an area of free movement of people and a monetary union. The agreement was signed in Kigali (Rwanda) on 21 March 2018 and entered into force on 30 May 2019 after ratification by 35 countries. José Segura Clavell, director general of Casa África; Carlos Lopes, Special Envoy of the AU for the EU; Ainhoa Marín, senior researcher at the Real Instituto Elcano and professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Miguel Higuera, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Spanish Embassy in Accra, will take part in the webinar.
