The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya, held a telephone interview yesterday with her Canadian counterpart, Marc Garneau, with whom she discussed the COVID-19 crisis and the importance of keeping supply chains open, bilateral relations between Spain and Canada and the situation in Latin America and, more specifically, in Venezuela. The two ministers also pledged to strengthen multilateralism and democratic values, as reported by the two Ministries through their respective Twitter accounts.

Marc Garneau, former Minister of Transport, assumed the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs just a month ago, on the occasion of the last reshuffle of Justin Trudeau’s Government. On the other hand, the meeting between González Laya and Garneau took place on the same day as the presentation of the Letters of Credence by the new Canadian Ambassador to Spain, Wendy Allen Drukier. The ceremony, as is traditional, took place at the Royal Palace in the presence of King Philip VI.
