Casa Árabe and the Blume publishing house will be presenting two new books on Libya this afternoon at 6:00 p.m.: No sacred land for the vanquished, by Javier Martín (pictured), and The Libyan Crossroads, Pasaje mortal a Europa 2011-2020, by Ricardo García Vilanova, in an event spoken in Spanish, which will be broadcast on the cultural centre’s YouTube channel.
No sacred land for the vanquished addresses the causes and reasons for the migratory crisis that is shaking the Mediterranean and the Sahel, and is the result of ten years of work in both regions by the Salamanca reporter Javier Martín (Cirilo Rodríguez Prize (2019). This work is complemented by the incisive eye of his travelling companion Ricardo García Vilanova with The Libyan Crossroads (2011-2020), an extraordinary essay in photojournalism that immerses us in the lives of men, women and children trapped in the maelstrom of uprooting. The event will feature the participation of the two authors and will be presented and moderated by Karim Hauser, Casa Árabe’s International Relations Coordinator. In addition, Beatriz M. Ballesteros, from Casa Árabe’s Balqís Bookshop, will give a brief speech.
