Until 7 February, the Teatro Español in Madrid presents the play Mariana Pineda, by Federico García Lorca, after a successful tour of the main theatres in Spain.
Directed and directed by Javier Hernández-Simón and the principal actors Laia Marull and Álex Gadea, the play tells how Mariana Pineda had a short life and an unjust death. But she became a myth and a symbol of freedom. Silenced during absolutist governments, extolled under liberal and progressive governments, the figure of Mariana Pineda became an inexhaustible source of inspiration for poets and playwrights, including Federico García.
