The Spanish multinational Iberdrola, chaired by Ignacio Galán, together with the Danish company Orsted, headed by Mads Nipper, and the international company Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, headed by Santiago Seage, are world leaders in the application of sustainable management models by electricity companies.
The three companies are also among the top twenty corporations included in the Sustainability TOP100 published by the consultancy firm Corporate Knights, reports Europa Press.
The electricity generation sector is the sector with the highest representation among the top twenty companies in the world sustainability ranking, which shows the high level of commitment that these companies are acquiring not only with the processes of sustainable energy transition, but also with the application of sustainability criteria in the management of their businesses.
Sustainability has become a determining factor in the investment selection criteria of the main financial operators worldwide, funds, investment banks, family offices, and has been incorporated into management models as an essential factor.
The Corporate Knights ranking of the 100 most sustainable companies in the world was based on the analysis of 8,080 companies from multiple business sectors and with a turnover of more than one billion dollars each.
In the power generation sector, 244 companies were analyzed. Orsted is the second company in the entire ranking, Atlantica occupies the 12th position and Iberdrola the 19th.
