The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spent some 20,000 euros on PCR tests for diplomats and other officials of the Department who were to take up their postings abroad or make professional trips to different countries.
This is the result of the agreement approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers, which takes note of the declaration of emergency to contract the service of carrying out PCR tests for the detection of patients infected by COVID-19 and the identification of antibodies against SARS-COV-2.
The agreement stresses that the global health emergency situation of the COVID-19 coronavirus has led a large number of countries to impose the obligation to test negative for COVID-19 upon entry into their territories.
“As a consequence of the above, the Ministry’s personnel must undergo these tests, both for the incorporation to their post in the country of destination and for travel to countries other than the country of destination in order to carry out necessary work activities”.
In order to cover these needs, the emergency contracting of the service for the performance of the aforementioned tests was processed, for an estimated amount of 20,000 euros.
