Knowing first hand accurate and recent statistics is of paramount importance for companies in the tourism sector. For this reason, UNWTO recently launched the Tourism Data Panel, the first freely accessible global tourism statistical collection.
The information is key to develop any activity. Tourism companies, until now, have based their activity on partial or incomplete data, which has limited their capacity to offer innovations, new destinations or better offers.
UNWTO’s initiative to gather, for the first time, in a single Data Panel all the relevant information for the sector has found a great acceptance among Tour Operators, Hotel Companies, Service Providers and, in short, all the companies related, directly or indirectly, to world tourism.
The Data Panel groups together ten statistical sections, starting with the Tourism Recovery Tracker, which monitors relevant data such as international arrivals, air route capacity and reservations, and hotel occupancy rates, among others.
Two sections dedicated to the Covid-19 collect, on the one hand, data on the impact of the pandemic on tourism; on the other hand, they collect data on the policies implemented by the different countries to fight the pandemic.
The other eight chapters are dedicated to Tourism Flows: Outbound Markets and Destinations; Accommodation: Demand and Capacity; Tourism and Employment; Seasonality; Global and Regional Outcomes; and panels on country profiles as senders and receivers of travellers.
