Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid pays tribute to Mihai Eminescu
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On the occasion of the National Culture Day, the Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid presents the show I Never Thought I’d Learn to Die, dedicated to the poet Mihai Eminescu, a production of the Teatro Regina Maria de Oradea (Reina Maria Theatre), which will be broadcast in digital format on the Institute’s social networks (Facebook, YouTube and Twitter) on 15 January at 7 p.m., with Spanish subtitles.

This show (whose title represents Eminescu’s verse from the poem Ode in the old metro) is a show of poetry, music and dance, all of which are the broken-down expression of the personality, intellect and soul of this great man. In the centre of the stage, in the background, is the portrait of the national poet. The characters are dressed in white or creamy white and express the purity of the artist’s heart. The verses represent his ideas and feelings, the dance is the movement of his inner world and the music, the sound of his soul. The spectator is transported through lands and in virgin spiritual spheres, full of charm and freshness, stimulated by memories that come from the future and go towards the past, crossing the present, passing through us, artists and spectators, offspring of the great loves and the genius poet of the future: Mihai Eminescu.
