The Diplomat
King Philip VI has received in audience at the Royal Palace in Madrid the members of Eurodefense-Spain, led by its president, Gabriel del Toro, and the director of the Centre for National Defense Studies (Ceseden), Francisco de Paula Bisbal, on the occasion of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the creation of this organization dedicated to the study and reflection on issues related to security and defense, reports Europa Press.
The members of the delegation gave the monarch their view of the current situation, and presented the organisation’s main objectives for this year.
The Eurodefense-Spain association was created in 1995 by a collaboration agreement signed between CEOE and Ceseden. It forms part of the European network of Eurodefense, which currently includes associations from 14 countries of the European Union plus the United Kingdom, and among its components are diplomats and senior officers of the three armies, in a situation other than active service, as well as businessmen and university professors, among other professionals. Within the framework of the European network of Eurodefense, Eurodefense-Spain forms part of the Mediterranean Observatory and the Observatory on Migration.
The organisation seeks to promote the spirit of national security and defence and to encourage Spanish society’s knowledge of issues related to this field, as well as Spain’s presence and contribution to European security and defence needs.
CEOE participates through the Spanish Association of Defence, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies (Tedae) and values the Spanish companies that are part of the Spanish defence industry, which are technologically advanced, competitive and have great international prestige.
