With the Euthanasia Regulation Law, recently approved by the Congress of Deputies, the Teatro Plot Point in Madrid presents every Saturday in January at 7pm the play Thelma & Luisa (Morir de Amor), which focuses on young people, people who have not yet turned 40, but for whom their bodies are their own prison. And that is why they want to stop suffering inside that shell to which they are chained day after day.
The actresses Carmen Ibeas and Celia Medrano embody two half-sisters in their twenties who have had great success with their protest rock songs at the beginning of the 21st century. In their songs they confronted the establishment with provocative lyrics and criticism of social and religious hypocrisy. But as with many family relationships – and many music groups – they fought irreconcilably. Now, 20 years later, one sister calls on the other to honour a secret pact they made when they were a musical couple. The sisters rejoin, sing together again and continue to question the social canons of normality, the binary, the guilt that grips us and the univocal currents of opinion.
