Actress Lola Herrera returns to play ‘Five hours with Mario’

From 12 January to 7 March, the actress Lola Herrera returns to Madrid with her fetish play, Cinco horas con Mario (Five Hours with Mario), based on the novel of the same name by Miguel Delibes and directed by Josefina Molina.

The Teatro Bellas Artes is once again opening its doors to show this classic by Miguel Delibes, which could not be enjoyed last summer as the halls were closed. Lola Herrera thus fulfils her commitment to the Madrid audience, which always welcomes this work with expectation. The text by Miguel Delibes was first performed on 26 November 1979 at the Teatro Marquina in Madrid. Lola Herrera then gave life to Carmen Sotillo and now, 41 years later, she returns to perform it. The action takes place in March 1966. Carmen Sotillo has just unexpectedly lost her husband Mario. Once the visitors and the family have retired, she alone watches over her husband’s body during the last night and begins a monologue-dialogue with him in which her personalities and the conflicts of her marriage are discovered.
