Travelers need to have a negative Covid-19 test to enter Spain

With the world drawing in with so many positive Covid-19 cases, individuals need to have a negative test report to be able to travel to other parts of the world. The same goes out for Spain as well.

The Spanish Health Ministry has clarified to future travelers that foreign travellers from high-risk countries across the world have to provide a negative Covid-19 test to be able to enter their country.

The rule is going to be set in place starting November 23, 2020, wherein the travellers will be asked to submit the negative test before they decide to visit this European country.

The result should be around 72 hours before the tourists’ planned departure. The submission process can be done via the internet, a smartphone application, or via a document with the test results before boarding their flights.

The proof of the test is going to be an important factor on top of the temperature checks and the other formalities that are going to be conducted at the airport before boarding as usual. This new measure is more important in countries that are considered high-risk.

According to the European Union, they are considering those countries as high-risk who have a case notification for their 14-day cumulative count to be over 50 and the positive test rate of the country is over 4%. Also, if the cumulative count of the cases in 14-days is over 150 per 100,000 citizens.

The same is the case with the non-EU and the other European countries across the nation. The Health Minister of Spain, Salvador Illa said that the government took the measure in line with the guidelines that they established in Europe last month.

He further explained that the EU members have further clarified that the travellers will have to produce a valid diagnostic test rather than the quarantine facility that was imposed around before. This is to ensure prompt travelling the moment the individuals land in the country.

Spain’s tourism, which is one of the biggest pillars of the economy in the country, has already experienced a lot of hit and downsizing because of the Covid-19 issue. Even Madrid has imposed stricter controls on tourism and the people travelling in and out of the country.

Spain has been on top of their game ever since the beginning of the outbreak, ever since the announcement of their first strict lockdown. Although the country experienced a rebound in the Covid-19 cases when they tried to revive the economy, things did take a turn for the worse.

The country is still struggling to fight the resurgence of the virus, like several other European nations, but Spain has already reported over 40,000 deaths with 349 fatalities reported quite recently. Addressing all these issues, Illa tried to restore the hope in the country’s economy by ensuring that they follow more vigilance. It is still suggested that people take this virus seriously and wear a mask unless there is a vaccination that keeps you safe from this for the rest of the future.
