From 18 November to 13 December, the tribute to the writer Benito Pérez Galdós continues at the Teatro Español in Madrid as we celebrate the centenary of his death with the premiere of Galdós: sombra y realidad (Galdós: Shadow and Reality), a work by Ignacio del Moral and Verónica Fernández, which traces a fascinating journey through the memories of his life, his work and his loves.
To accompany Galdós on this dreamlike personal journey is to discover how much his loves influenced his novels, to meet a passionate and honest man, and to understand the meaning of patriotism. Because the monumental works of realistic and universal fiction he wrote are also a reflection of his desires, contradictions, obsessions and sense of humour. Likewise, the work builds a place where furniture dances, loves follow one another and overlap, times coexist and fiction becomes flesh, while Galdós travels through all these places with humanity.
