La del Manojo de Rosas, a two-act lyrical sainete composed by Pablo Sorozábal and the most emblematic and popular production of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, is celebrating its 30th anniversary and will be presenting it again from the 10th to the 22nd of this month.
At its premiere in September 1990 it was very well received by audiences and critics, and has continued to be so over the last three decades. Several generations of singers, artists, technicians and audiences have participated in or enjoyed what is now Pablo Sorozábal’s best known title and the one he has linked in a special way to this theatre. The play tells how Joaquín, a young man who pretends to be a mechanic, and Ricardo, an aviator, are looking for Ascensión, a young woman who owns a flower shop called “La del manojo de rosas”. Both compete in love requests, but she answers that she will only marry a man of her class. Schedules and tickets at this link.
