Robert Frank, one of the great photographers of the 20th century, will star in a retrospective series at the Filmoteca Española, one of this year’s venues for Documenta Madrid, the International Film Festival promoted by the Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture.
A complete retrospective, co-organised by Documenta Madrid and Filmoteca Española with the support of the Swiss Embassy, which will present Robert Frank’s complete film and video work for the first time in Spain and celebrate the film side of the Swiss-American creator one year after his death at the age of 94. A total of 26 titles directed by Frank will be shown exclusively at the Cine Doré in Madrid from 10 to 23 December in nine unique sessions. The retrospective is a unique opportunity for festival audiences to discover the lesser-known side of the transnational and cross-border work of the artist, which remains as vital today as it was during his long and celebrated career.
