Eco de España en árabe, the first professional Arabic communication centre in Spain, has been inaugurated, which will inform the Arab world about Spain from Spain.
Musa Odeh, Ambassador of Palestine; Bashar Yaghi, Ambassador of the League of Arab States in Spain, and Abdo Tounsi, President of the Hispanic-Arab Intercultural Circle (CIHAR), participated in person in the presentation ceremony that took place in the EEÁ Centre in Madrid, together with the former Spanish MP Muhammad al-Shayeb and the journalist from TVE Esther Vázquez, who participated via the Internet.
After an introductory speech by the director general of Eco de España en árabe, Fadi Salfiti, on the centre and its objectives, the Palestinian ambassador, Musa Odeh, took the floor, emphasising in his speech the importance of the media and its central role in raising awareness of Arab issues, and hoping that this incipient institution would be the best platform for Arabs in Spain. In turn, Ambassador Bashar Yaghi explained in his speech that the role of the Foundation in restoring pride in Arab culture through the shared history of the two nations is very important and necessary.
Finally, the President of CIHAR, Abdo Tounsi, pointed out that the initiative is a good idea, “since we have an urgent need to transmit news about Spain from Spain, because there is little information about the Spanish among the Arabs and vice versa, it would also be necessary to put Spain, by informing the Arabs, in the place it deserves as a great nation”.
